Our Basque Story
Pyrenees Cafe opened its doors at 601 Sumner Street in 1901, first serving travelers and immigrants near Bakersfield's train station. It later evolved from a Basque boarding house into the family-style restaurant Bakersfield knows today.
In the Basque tradition, food is more than sustenance—it's a celebration of community, culture, and connection. Our family-style dinners bring people together around generous portions of authentic recipes passed down through generations.
